Ultrasound signs of a threatened miscarriage include: a decreased ratio of cervical length to its diameter at the level of the internal os, widening of the cervical canal in the region of the internal os, thinning of the anterior uterine wall in the lower uterine segment, herniation of the gestational sac into the cervical canal, and increased myometrial tone. Ultrasound also enables the evaluation of fetal lung tissue maturity.
