2.3. TUBE METHOD FOR DETERMINING Blood GROUP USING THE Rh SYSTEM (RHESUS FACTOR)

Using a Pasteur pipette, add 1 drop of gelatin and 1 drop of blood into each of three Widal tubes. Add a drop of anti-Rh serum of the same blood group and a specific lot to two of the tubes. Do not add anti-Rh serum to the third tube, as it serves as a control. Place all tubes in a Water bath (47–48 °C) for 5 minutes, then add warm saline solution (up to 3/4 of the tube volume). Mix thoroughly. Examine the solution in the tubes against transmitted light. If agglutination is present in the first two tubes, the blood is Rh-positive; if absent, it is Rh-negative.
