Introduction

The distribution of Cardiac Output among various body parts in a normal resting human is shown in Table 32-1. The Basic principles of the Circulation described in previous chapters apply to all of these body regions, although most Organs exhibit specific features. The portal circulation of the anterior pituitary is discussed in Chapter 14, the Pulmonary Circulation in Chapter 34, and the Renal Circulation in Chapter 38. Circulation in skeletal Muscles is described in Chapter 33 along with the physiology of contraction. In this chapter, we will focus on the circulation in the Brain, Heart, abdominal organs, Skin, Placenta, and fetus.
