The objective of the session is to study the anatomical and histological Structure OF THE Heart, arterial walls, Veins, microcirculatory vessels, and Lymph Nodes, as well as to measure Blood pressure and determine the pulse rate.
Equipment: a microscopic slide and anatomical model of The Heart, a microscopic slide of the heart wall, charts (cardiac conduction system, microscopic Structure of the Heart Wall), a slide set, a Microscope, a slide projector, a stopwatch, a sphygmomanometer, and a stethoscope.
Session content. Students are expected to know: 1) the Structural Features of the heart; 2) the PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF The cardiac Muscle, the cardiac cycle and its phases; 3) the Methods for measuring pulse rate and blood pressure; 4) the major Vessels of the pulmonary and systemic Circulation; 5) the Physiological principles of Blood flow through the vessels; 6) The structure of The Lymphatic system, The Mechanism of Lymph formation, and the COMPOSITION AND PROPERTIES of lymph.
Lab Report. Draw a diagram of the structure of the heart, and the walls of Arteries and veins, labeling their layers. Record the results of blood pressure and pulse rate measurements at rest and after physical exertion, and explain the obtained results.
