Epiblema
The epiblema, or rhizodermis, is the primary dermal tissue of the ROOT, predominantly single-layered, covering The surface of the root absorption zone. It develops from the protoderm, into which the dermatogen transforms. The Cell walls are thin. The epiblema lacks Stomata and is not protected by a cuticle. The cell surface is covered with a layer of mucus secreted by the epiblema. Epiblemal Cells form outgrowths known as root hairs, which significantly increase the surface area of the epiblema. The length of a root Hair ranges from 1-8 mm, their number can reach up to 2,000 per 1 mm of the epiblemal surface, and their lifespan is 10-20 days. Through the epiblema, the root absorbs Water and essential substances from the substrate and releases compounds into the soil that enhance the solubility of soil components and create a favorable environment for its microflora.
