INTRODUCTION
The course «Botany with Basics of Hydrobotany», presented in this textbook, is developed in accordance with curriculum principles and meets the approved sectoral standards of higher education of Ukraine for the specialty «Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture» (Bachelor's degree 6.090201). It focuses on the aquatic Plants of Ukraine and is tailored for students of agrarian universities. The authors aimed to bring the core sections of the textbook in line with the Current state of botanical science, encouraging students to understand how plant Structure develops in response to various environmental factors, and highlighting the necessity of applying botanical knowledge to solve fundamental challenges in related sciences and fishery practice.
The purpose of the textbook is to introduce students to the System of the organic world, particularly aquatic plants, their Classification, life forms, habitats, dynamics of aquatic vegetation, conservation, Methods of hydrobotanic research, and the tools used to study The formation of aquatic bioresources in Ukraine.
The first chapter outlines the conditions for the formation and growth of aquatic plants. The second chapter presents a classification of aquatic Water/128.html">Morphology/18.html">PLANT LIFE FORMS. The third chapter is dedicated to THE ECOLOGICAL AND coenotic significance of water for aquatic macrophytes. The fourth chapter covers Plant Cell Structure and defines the Functions of individual Organelles. The subsequent chapter explores the characteristics of lower plants, focusing on groups of Algae divisions, their ecology, and the life cycles of key representatives. The sixth and seventh chapters deal with the Histology, morphology, and ANATOMY OF VEGETATIVE and Generative Organs. The following chapters address higher aquatic plants, specifically HIGHER SPORE PLANTS, gymnosperms, and angiosperms. The presented material is accompanied by numerous original illustrations to facilitate comprehension.
Considerable attention is given to sections highlighting the formation and growth of aquatic plants, their dynamics, and distribution by biomorphs in Ukraine. Original sections are devoted to the conservation of aquatic PLANTS AND THEIR communities, accompanied by information on tools for studying aquatic plants and methods of hydrobotanic research, which are practically essential for investigating The Development of aquatic bioresources in Ukraine. The Latin names of systematic units or taxa are provided in accordance with the current rules of international botanical nomenclature.
The characteristics of systematic groups include material on Cytology, histology, anatomy, and morphology of aquatic plants. It should be noted that There is a substantial body of educational botanical literature where such data can also be explored.
The textbook is based on lecture courses in botany and botany with the basics of hydrobotany, which the authors taught for many years at the faculties of Aquatic Bioresources, Agrobiology, Forestry, Plant Protection, Landscape Architecture, Ecology, and Biotechnology at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
The textbook examines the characteristics of habitats of vascular aquatic plant species and their spatial distribution patterns in Ukraine. It thoroughly discusses the composition, structure, formation, and functional role of ecotones as components of wetland ecosystems, as well as the Genesis and structure of plant communities. It provides a classification of temperate aquatic plant life forms and analyzes Changes in the morphological and biological traits of species under the Influence of Environmental factors. Great emphasis is placed on organizing the conservation of wetlands and protecting their Gene pool and coenophytocoenoses. A phytosociological Assessment of the status of species and communities requiring protection is provided, along with considerations for restoring aquatic plants in their natural habitats. Lists of aquatic plants in need of protection are also included.
Aquatic plants are viewed as species with similar ecobiomorphs, distinguished by biological, anatomical, and morphological traits that evolved through adaptation to aquatic, water-air, and water-air-terrestrial environments. Methods of hydrobotanic research are described in detail, serving as a vital practical tool for investigating the formation of aquatic bioresources in Ukraine.
