Biotechnology impacts every medical field, ranging from Diagnostics to the Treatment of various diseases. Modern achievements in biotechnology drive The Development of novel diagnostic Methods and therapeutic agents. To date, over 400 genes encoding human Proteins with potential medicinal Applications have been cloned. According to industry experts, the global market for human protein-based Pharmaceuticals is valued at $150 billion and continues to grow steadily.

In terms of biotechnological drug production, the United States ranks first globally (63%), followed by Western European countries in second place (25%), and Japan in third (7%). Table 4.1 lists the leading biotechnology companies in Europe.
