The Doctrine of Sense Organs
General Part
Sense Organs belong to Sensory systems. They contain the peripheral ends of analyzers, protecting their receptor Cells from adverse influences and creating optimal conditions for their functioning.
According to I. P. Pavlov, each analyzer consists of three parts: a peripheral part (the receptor that perceives stimuli), a conduction pathway (which transmits impulses), and a central part located in the Cerebral Cortex, which analyzes and synthesizes information. Sense organs establish The connection between the body and the external environment. The receptor apparatus is represented by extero-, intero-, and proprioceptors. Exteroceptors perceive general external stimuli (thermal, pain, vibration, pressure, Touch) as well as special ones (chemical, light, sound); interoceptors receive stimuli from Internal Organs, glands, and Blood Vessels; and proprioceptors receive stimuli from bones, ligaments, tendons, and Muscles, informing the Central Nervous system about THE POSITION OF body parts in space. The sense organs include The Organ of Vision, the Vestibulocochlear Organ (of Hearing and Equilibrium), the Organ of Smell, The ORGAN OF TASTE, The Organ of tactile, pain, and Temperature sensitivity, and the motor analyzer.
