The objective of this lab is to study the anatomical and histological Structure of nerve fibers, the Spinal Cord, and the Brain, and to examine human ocular and deep tendon Reflexes.

Equipment: anatomical charts, an atlas, histological slides of the brain, a cross-section of the spinal cord, a cross-section of the Medulla Oblongata, a Microscope, and a reflex hammer.

Lab content. Students are expected to know: 1) the Structural Features of The Nervous system; 2) the Anatomy of the spinal cord and brain; 3) The structure of the Peripheral Nervous System; 4) the PHYSIOLOGY OF THE Cerebral Cortex; 5) histological slides showing the structure of nerve fibers, the spinal cord, and the brain; 6) how to evaluate visual and deep tendon reflexes in humans.

Lab Report. Draw: a) a general diagram of the brain in sagittal section; b) a diagram of the cerebral ventricles; c) a diagram of the cross-section of the spinal cord and medulla oblongata. Label the structures accordingly. Record the results of the visual, patellar, and Achilles reflexes, and provide an explanation for them.
