Brain - Telencephalon
The cerebrum, Telencephalon, is a derivative of the primary Brain vesicle, prosencephalon, and constitutes the largest and most important division of the brain. As the primary division of the Central Nervous system, the cerebrum controls The activity of the lower Divisions of the BRAIN AND SPINAL cord.
The cerebrum consists of two cerebral hemispheres, hemispherium cerebrale, which cover the Brainstem. The cerebrum is divided by the longitudinal fissure, fissura longitudmalis cerebri, into right and left symmetrical hemispheres, hemispherium dextrum et sinistrum, which are interconnected by the corpus callosum, fornix, and the anterior and posterior commissures, commisura anterioret posterior; In size, the cerebrum exceeds all other PARTS OF THE brain combined (Fig. 150). The average length of the cerebral hemispheres is 170 mm, the width of both hemispheres is 140 mm, and the height is 125 mm. Each hemisphere is divided into the Pallium or mantle, pallium, the olfactory brain, rhinencephalon, basal nuclei, nuclei basales, Lateral ventricles, ventriculi laterales, and White matter, substantia alba.
