The Functions of the FEMALE Reproductive System include The production of germ Cells, the synthesis of Sex Hormones, the provision of intrauterine fetal development, and milk secretion.

The female reproductive system is divided into internal genitalia, organa genitalia feminina interna, and external genitalia, organa genitalia feminina externa (Fig. 325).

The internal genital Organs include:

- Ovary, ovarium;

- epoophoron and paroophoron, epoophoron et paroophoron;

- Uterus, uterus;

- Uterine tube, tuba uterina [salpinx];

- Vagina, vagina.

The Ovaries produce Female Germ Cells and perform a hormonopoietic function, acting as Endocrine glands. If Fertilization occurs, embryonic development takes place within the uterus. The remaining organs function as reproductive ducts and copulatory structures.
