NERVAL PATHWAYS OF THE BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD

Projection fibers are divided into two groups: ascending (sensory) pathways, which transmit stimuli from The Musculoskeletal System, Sense Organs, Blood Vessels, and Internal Organs to the Cerebral Cortex, and descending (motor) pathways, through which impulses are transmitted from the cerebral cortex to effector organs. Neural Pathways are formed by chains of Neurons. Sensory pathways generally consist of three neurons, whereas motor pathways consist of two. The first neuron of all sensory pathways is located in the spinal ganglia. The final neuron of motor pathways is always represented by Cells of the nuclei in the anterior horns of the Spinal Cord Gray matter or by cells of the motor cranial nerve nuclei.
