Pancreatic Polypeptide
The pancreatic polypeptide (PP), consisting of 36 Amino Acids (molecular weight approx. 4200), is a recently discovered product of the pancreatic F-Cells. In humans, its secretion is stimulated by a protein-rich diet, fasting, Physical Exercise, and acute hypoglycemia. Somatostatin and intravenously administered glucose reduce its secretion. The function of the pancreatic polypeptide remains unknown. It is highly probable that it affects Liver Glycogen content and gastrointestinal secretion.
