Miscarriage and Post-term Pregnancy
Post-term Pregnancy
Delivery in Post-term Pregnancy
Post-term Pregnancy should be regarded as an obstetric pathology; therefore, active Management of Labor is required.
Medical labor induction is performed using Traditional Methods outlined in the section "Labor Abnormalities".
Following pre-labor preparation, Amniotomy is performed, followed by the administration of uterotonics (Prostaglandins, oxytocin, or a combination thereof). Indications, contraindications, dosage, and route of administration are determined by the condition of the woman and the fetus, The Nature of labor activity, and the presence of extragenital pathology.
During labor, Prevention of Fetal Hypoxia and intensive monitoring of the fetal condition and labor progress are mandatory. If medical labor induction fails within 3–4 hours, or if fetal hypoxia or other obstetric pathology develops, delivery by Cesarean Section is performed.
Elective Cesarean section for post-term pregnancy is indicated in the presence of concomitant conditions (fetal breech presentation, history of Infertility, elderly primipara, pelvic contraction, etc.).
Prevention of post-term pregnancy is carried out through careful monitoring of the pregnant woman at the antenatal clinic and timely hospitalization in the pregnancy pathology department for pre-labor preparation.
