Artificial abortion
Termination of pregnancy after 12 weeks

Artificial abortion after 12 weeks of gestation may be performed exclusively for medical or social indications regulated by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 925 of November 12, 1993, "On the Procedure for Artificial Termination of Pregnancy from 12 to 28 Weeks."

Medical indications for late-term abortion are similar to those for early-term Procedures.

Social and other indications:

1. Physical immaturity (under 16 years of age).

2. Decline of the Reproductive System (over 45 years of age).

3. State following the removal of vital Organs (Kidney, Lungs).

4. Death of the husband during pregnancy or divorce from him.

5. Incarceration of the woman or her husband.

6. Having 3 or more children.

7. Pregnancy resulting from rape (provided the woman filed a corresponding report at the time of the rape).

8. Deprivation of the woman's parental rights.

9. Severe illness or injury of the husband resulting in his disability during his wife's pregnancy.

10. Having a disabled child.

11. Medical error.

Contraindications and conditions for performing late-term artificial abortion are the same as for early-term pregnancy termination. However, each late-term abortion method has its own specific contraindications, which are detailed in the description of these Methods.

Examinations:

1. Determination of Blood group and Rh factor.

2. Blood test for HIV Antibodies.

3. Complex serological tests for the Diagnosis of Syphilis.

4. Bacterioscopic examination of vaginal discharge.

5. Ultrasound examination (Ultrasonography)

6. Biochemical blood test.

7. Coagulogram.

8. Complete blood count.

9. Urinalysis.

Methods of Second-Trimester Abortion

There are two methods of second-trimester abortion: conservative and surgical.
