Fundamental Tissues

Living isodiametric Cells of various shapes with intercellular spaces. The Cell walls are thin, either primary or both Primary and secondary; they may remain pecto-Cellulose or undergo lignification, suberization, cutinization, or mineralization. In plants, parenchyma is distributed throughout all Organs between the dermal, mechanical, and Vascular Tissues.

Depending on its function, parenchyma is subdivided into assimilatory, storage, aerenchyma (air-storage), and hydrenchyma (Water-storage).
