5.9 Interconnection of Respiration with Other Metabolic Processes
CARBOHYDRATES produced during Photosynthesis serve as necessary substrates for Respiration. Many intermediate respiration products are essential for The Biosynthesis of crucial compounds. Triose phosphate, when converted into glycerol, can be used in fat synthesis. Pyruvic, ketoglutaric, and oxaloacetic acids are transformed via amination into Alanine, glutamic, and aspartic Amino Acids, which are subsequently utilized in Protein Synthesis. Succinic acid provides the basis for The formation of the chlorophyll porphyrin ring. Acetyl-coenzyme A acts as a precursor for fatty acid production. Pentoses, formed through the apotomic oxidation pathway, are components of NUCLEOTIDES, Nucleic Acids, nicotinamide, and Flavin Coenzymes. Erythrose-4-phosphate reacts with phosphoenolpyruvate to form shikimic acid, which is required for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids such as Tryptophan.
