Flavins are among natural light receptors (Fig. 8-15) [135] and possess interesting photochemical properties that are currently well understood [136, 136a]. Flavins can participate in various photoreactions in plants (Chap. 13, Sec. G,2) and act as light emitters in certain organisms capable of Bioluminescence (Chap. 13, Sec. H).
