Renal parenchyma with small cavities is a variant of Infantile Polycystic Kidney disease. Infantile Polycystic Kidney Disease is characterized by a bilateral, marked enlargement of the Kidneys with The formation of numerous small cysts tightly packed together in both the cortical and medullary layers. The kidneys acquire the appearance of a multi-porous sponge. Microscopic examination reveals that the entire renal tissue appears to be completely replaced by cysts lined with cuboidal epithelium. Affected infants are non-viable.
