Large waxy Kidney
During the proteinuric stage of Renal Amyloidosis, protein deposits occur not only in the pyramids, but also in the glomeruli as minor deposits within the mesangium and individual capillary loops, as well as in the walls of arterioles. Sclerosis and Amyloidosis of the pyramids and boundary zones are pronounced, which contributes to the exclusion and atrophy of many deeply situated nephrons. Externally, The surface of the kidney is white and smooth, while the cut surface exhibits a characteristic waxy (greasy) sheen.
