The Ovary is located in the lesser pelvis. Its longitudinal axis runs almost vertically. The lateral surface of the ovary faces the lateral pelvic wall, while its medial surface faces the peritoneal cavity of the lesser pelvis and the Organs it contains. In newborn girls, the ovary has a cylindrical shape. The process of descent of the ovary from the lumbar region into the pelvis is not yet complete in them, and it lies high, typically near the pelvic inlet. During the first month of life, the ovary descends into the pelvis, and by the age of two, it assumes its definitive position.
