The exocrine portion of The Pancreas secretes up to 2 liters of pancreatic juice per day (Permyakov, 1974), which enters the duodenum via the pancreatic duct. It contains essential digestive Enzymes (Trypsin, Chymotrypsin, carboxypeptidase, aminopeptidase, lipase, α-amylase, maltase, lactase, Nucleases, etc.) that act on Proteins, fats, and CARBOHYDRATES.

The Endocrine portion of the gland synthesizes several Hormones, including Insulin, Glucagon, and Somatostatin, which regulate carbohydrate, protein, and lipid METABOLISM in the Body.
