Pancreas — Topography of the Pancreas
The Pancreas is located retroperitoneally in the upper Abdominal cavity AND has complex anatomical and topographical relationships with adjacent abdominal Organs. The HEAD of the pancreas lies at the level of the LI–LIII vertebrae within the C-loop of the duodenum, the body abuts the posterior wall of The Stomach and the transverse colon at the level of the first lumbar vertebra, while its posterior surface relates to the aorta, and the tail reaches the medial border of the Spleen at the level of the eleventh to twelfth thoracic vertebrae. The portal vein runs posterior to the gland, the superior mesenteric vessels lie inferiorly, and the splenic vessels course along the superior border, alongside the pancreatic splenic and Lymph Nodes.
