Tarsal Bones - Cuboid Bone

The cuboid bone, os cuboideum, is located on the lateral side of the FOOT (see Fig. 70). It articulates posteriorly with the calcaneus, anteriorly with the IV–V Metatarsal Bones, and medially with the lateral cuneiform bone. Its medial surface features articular facets for connection with the lateral cuneiform and navicular bones. The lateral border of the bone presents the tuberosity of the cuboid, tuberositas ossis cuboidei. Anterior to it originates the groove for the tendon of the fibularis longus Muscle, sulcus tendinis m. peronei longi.
