Metatarsal bones

The Metatarsal Bones, ossa metatarsi [metatarsalia] [I—V], are represented by long bones (see Fig. 70), each of which has a body, corpus metatarsalis, a base, basis metatarsalis, and a HEAD, caput metatarsalis. The bodies of adjacent bones are separated from each other by interosseous metatarsal spaces. On the plantar surface of the metatarsal bone base, There is a tuberosity, tuberositas metatarsalis. On the fifth (V) metatarsal bone, on the lateral side of the base, there is also a tuberosity, tuberositas metatarsalis.
