BONES OF THE LOWER LIMB

The bones (Skeleton) of the lower limbs, much like those of the upper limbs, are subdivided into the BONES OF THE Pelvic Girdle and the bones of the free lower limb (see Figs. 84, 85).

The pelvic girdle, or girdle of the lower limb (cingulum membri inferioris), is formed by the right and left hip bones connected anteriorly and the sacrum wedged between them posteriorly. Articulated with each hip bone is the corresponding free lower limb, which consists of the Femur, Tibia, Fibula, and the Bones of the FOOT, connected by joints that are less mobile than those of the upper limb.
