Modes of New Cell Formation

New plant Cells are formed through the following processes: Cell Division, fusion of two or more cells, budding, and the so-called Water/54.html">Free Cell Formation. The ontogeny of each cell comprises several phases: the embryonic or division phase, the growth phase, the differentiation phase, the maturity phase, and the phase of Senescence and Death. Certain plant cells continue to exist after the death of their protoplast in the form of cell walls and the cavities enclosed by them. These include cork cells, bark cells, tracheids, vessels, wood and bast fibers, etc.
