Preface
The purpose of the academic discipline "Plant Physiology" is to provide students with professional knowledge regarding the vital activity processes of plant organisms and their systematic management.
The Unity of research objects and Methods determines the close relationship between "Plant Physiology" and other academic disciplines: "Biophysics", "Chemistry", "Chemical Plant Protection (Phytopharmacology) with the Basics of Agrotoxicology", "Botany", and "Agrochemistry".
The Study of physiological processes occurring in plants is impossible without knowledge of anatomy, Morphology, and biochemistry, as well as physics and chemistry, whose Conclusions, laws, and methods are utilized by plant physiology. The subject of plant physiology encompasses not only individual Components of the living system, but primarily the understanding of the mechanisms of physiological function integration at the level of the whole plant Organism.
The objective is to establish a theoretical foundation of plant physiological processes for students in order to improve existing agricultural technologies, develop advanced ones, regulate crop production processes, and enhance the quality of crop yields.
As a result of studying the discipline, the student must
know:
- the history, essence, significance, problems, and Prospects of plant physiology development;
- the Functions of Cells, Tissues, and the plant as a whole, as well as the transformations taking place within them;
- Methods for determining the intensity of Photosynthesis and Respiration in plant organisms;
- the mechanisms of hormonal Regulation at the Gene and membrane levels, and the Application of phytohormones in plant protection;
- the Physiological Basis of plant METABOLISM alterations under The Influence of stress factors;
- the dependence of physiological processes on major internal factors and environmental conditions;
- means, methods, and techniques of physiological influence on plants to obtain high yields;
- The Role of plant physiology in programming crop productivity, forecasting the state of ecological systems, and environmental protection:
be able to:
- apply knowledge of plant physiology in practice;
- use key plant physiological indicators to create a structured database characterizing fluxes and elements of the "soil-plant-climate-yield" system;
- monitor, forecast, and manage the production process for achieving a targeted crop yield.
