Let us consider the situation illustrated in Fig. 13.4, where two plant Cells with different Water potentials are in contact with each other.

13.4. a) Which Cell has a higher (less negative) water potential?
b) In which direction does water move via osmosis?
c) At equilibrium, both cells will have the same water potential, equal to the arithmetic mean of their initial values, i.e., -1000 kPa.
Assuming that ψ0 has remained virtually unchanged, determine what the equilibrium ψp values will be for cells A and B.
