FUNDAMENTALS OF ENZYME STRUCTURE AND KINETICS IN BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS - O. A. Naumenko - 2017
Introduction
Studying the METABOLISM/9.html">Structure of Enzymes, their active sites, and the REGULATION OF ENZYMATIC reaction rates is a vital objective in biochemistry. Modern biotechnological and pharmaceutical industries widely employ enzyme Proteins as catalysts for synthesizing novel products and Pharmaceuticals; consequently, mastering the basics of enzymology is an essential milestone in the training of biologists.
The sections of this textbook are structured in accordance with the SYLLABUS OF THE module "Fundamentals of Enzyme Structure and Kinetics in Biological Systems" and comprise six chapters covering Enzyme Structure, the kinetics and Thermodynamics of enzymatic reactions, bioenergetics, a laboratory practicum, examination questions, and test Assignments. Each chapter includes Review Questions for self-Assessment of the acquired knowledge.
The laboratory exercises provided in the manual will enable students to develop skills in determining enzymatic reaction rates, calculating thermodynamic parameters under specified conditions, isolating proteins for research, mastering Protein Purification techniques via centrifugation and filtration, and assessing enzyme activity.
