Arginine
Arginine serves as a donor of the formamidine group in the synthesis of creatine in primates (Fig. 32.11) and the synthesis of streptomycin in actinomycetes of the genus Streptomyces. Other pathways of arginine utilization include its conversion into Ornithine and subsequently into putrescine, spermine, and spermidine (Fig. 32.4), as well as the synthesis of arginine phosphate (a functional analogue of creatine phosphate) in invertebrate Muscles.
