RNA-Containing Viruses
Viral RNA genome types are represented by three groups: single-stranded (+)RNA, single-stranded (-)RNA, and double-stranded RNA.

The nucleotide sequences of viral (+)RNA genomes correspond to mRNA, whereas the nucleotide sequences of viral (-)RNA genomes are complementary to mRNA. Double-stranded RNA genomes are segmented, meaning they consist of multiple molecules. The other two groups may contain either segmented or non-segmented RNA molecules.
The genomes of Introduction/7.html">RNA-containing Viruses are linear molecules, whereas Viroids and virusoids are single-stranded circular RNAs (250-270 nt) capable of infecting plants.
