Concentric Myocardial Hypertrophy

The specimen shows a section of the left ventricular wall, which is hypertrophied up to 2 cm. This type of cardiac hypertrophy develops during Hypertension and Heart defects (such as aortic valve stenosis in septic endocarditis). In the early stages, the disease is characterized by compensatory hypertrophy of not only Muscle fibers, but also stromal elements (Blood Vessels, nerve fibers, and the Connective Tissue framework).
