Hydronephrosis

In the gross specimen, the Kidney is transformed into a thin-walled sac filled with urine. A stone obstructing the Ureter causes dilation not only of the renal pelvis, but also of the ureteral lumen above the obstruction, leading to hydroureteronephrosis. This condition triggers ureteritis (inflammation of the ureter wall) that results in stricture formation, along with a pressure ulcer and subsequent ureteral perforation.
