Hydronephrosis
The specimen shows a Kidney with thinned parenchyma and a dilated renal pelvis. An obstructing ureteral stone causes dilatation not only of the pelvis but also of the ureteral lumen above the obstruction, resulting in hydroureteronephrosis. This leads to inflammation of the ureteral wall (ureteritis), which culminates in stricture formation and can cause pressure ulcers with ureteral perforation.
