Thorax

The Thorax forms part of the Axial Skeleton. It protects the Organs located within its cavity (Heart, Lungs, etc.) and plays a direct role in The Mechanism of Respiration. The thorax consists of the thoracic vertebrae, twelve pairs of Ribs, and the Sternum, which are bound together by various TYPES OF JOINTS into a single functional unit.
