1. The thyroepiglottic Muscle, musculus thyroepiglotticus, is a paired muscle that originates from the inner surface of the thyroid Cartilage lamina, lies lateral to the thyroepiglottic ligament, attaches to the margin of the epiglottis, and continues partially into the aryepiglottic fold. It widens the laryngeal inlet and the Vestibule of the Larynx.

2. The posterior cricoarytenoid muscle, musculus cricoarytenoideus posterior, is a paired muscle originating from the posterior surface of the cricoid cartilage lamina and attaching to the muscular process of the arytenoid cartilage. Upon contraction, it pulls the muscular process backward and medially, causing the vocal process to rotate laterally and thus widening the rima glottidis.
