CLASSIFICATION OF TUMORS
Modern tumor Classification is largely based on the morphological principle, although it is of a mixed nature because it primarily takes into account tumor histogenesis, as well as morphological Structure, localization, structural features in individual Organs (organ Specificity), and benign or malignant behavior. This is an international classification that distinguishes 7 groups of tumors, comprising over 200 entities:
1. EPITHELIAL TUMORS WITHOUT specific localization (organ-nonspecific).
2. Tumors of exocrine and Endocrine glands, as well as epithelial linings (organ-specific).
3. Mesenchymal tumors.
4. Tumors of melanin-producing tissue.
5. Tumors of The Nervous system and Meninges.
6. Tumors of the hematopoietic and lymphoid Tissues.
7. Teratomas (dysembryonic tumors).
This classification encompasses the majority of various human tumors and provides a foundational understanding of oncomorphology.
Tumors of the 1st and 2nd groups develop from various types of epithelium and can be either benign or malignant. Tumors of the 2nd group, developing from the specific Epithelial Tissue of exocrine and endocrine glands, typically not only preserve their function but are also accompanied by corresponding clinical manifestations.
