ATLAS OF HUMAN ANATOMY - G.L. Bilich - 2014

Preface

This comprehensive textbook and atlas of human anatomy stands out from similar publications due to the scope and depth of its material, incorporating the latest scientific advancements. It provides detailed insights into Functional Anatomy, illustrated with unique drawings, diagrams, and original tables. The combination of thorough text and rich visual material creates optimal conditions for mastering the complexities of this fundamental science.

All anatomical terms comply with the International Anatomical Nomenclature and the official list of equivalents (2003).

The content of the textbook-atlas fully aligns with human anatomy curricula for medical universities. It will also be immensely useful for students of biology and anthropology, graduate students, university faculty, and practicing physicians.

The textbook-atlas consists of three volumes containing nearly 2,000 original color illustrations, making it unmatched in terms of information volume and quality. The first volume provides detailed information on The Musculoskeletal System (bones, their articulations, and skeletal Muscles). The second volume covers The Structure of Internal Organs—the digestive and respiratory systems, the urogenital and endocrine apparatuses, as well as the cardiovascular and immune systems and Blood-forming organs. The third volume examines the structures of the central and peripheral nervous systems (somatic and autonomic) and the Sense Organs.

The atlas features images of organs obtained using modern diagnostic imaging techniques: classical radiography, tomography, and ultrasound.

The textbook-atlas is compiled using an original methodology designed to facilitate the most effective and rapid assimilation of complex material. This publication compares favorably to other atlases in how anatomical terms are labeled. Instead of cumbersome and uninformative figure captions, each Anatomical Structure is labeled directly on the illustration itself, with terms presented in two languages—Russian and Latin. Furthermore, English figure captions are provided at the bottom of the page, allowing the atlas to be used by international students (whose numbers in Russian medical universities are growing every year) as well as Russian students studying abroad. The atlas also includes a wealth of detailed tables across all sections of human anatomy, greatly simplifying the comprehension of the material.

Despite its detailed descriptions, numerous tables, and rich illustrations, the textbook-atlas remains user-friendly: the presentation format and clear Structuring (sections, subsections, headings, and subheadings) make it easy to find any required information. This rational layout makes the publication practical, highly informative, and up-to-date.
