Strands of cardiomyocytes form long functional Muscle "fibers" (1). The latter are predominantly sectioned longitudinally. Individual cardiomyocytes (2) are demarcated by intercalated discs (3). An intercalated disc appears as a thin line running across the strand of cardiomyocytes. The Nucleus (4) of the cardiomyocyte is located in the center of The Cell. On both sides of the nucleus in the sarcoplasm, there are myofibrils (5) that exhibit cross-striation due to the presence of dark (anisotropic) and light (isotropic) discs. Individual cardiomyocytes from adjacent strands are interconnected by anastomoses (6). Between the strands of cardiomyocytes lie light intervals (7) filled with loose Connective Tissue containing capillaries and nerves.
