WORKSHOP IN HISTOLOGY, CYTOLOGY AND EMBRYOLOGY - 2016

Chapter 4. TISSUES

Slide 56. Neurons of the retina.

Staining: methylene blue.

Magnification: x400.

This is a flat mount of the retina rather than a cross-section. Locate and examine a blue-stained nerve Cell under high magnification. The neuron (1) features a stellate cell body containing a round Nucleus (2). Numerous processes (3) extend from the body, making it difficult to distinguish between the axon and dendrites.
