Slide 28. Simple columnar epithelium of the renal tubules.
Staining: hematoxylin and eosin.
Magnification: x400.
The section is made through the renal pyramid. At low magnification, we select a cross-section of a tubule whose wall contains a greater number of Cells compared to the previous slide ("Simple cuboidal epithelium"). They are taller yet narrower. Cell boundaries (1) are clearly defined. The nuclei (2) of the epithelial cells are oval or round in shape. The long axis of The Nucleus is oriented along the height of the epithelial cells. The localization of the nucleus is the basal
part of The Cell. This type of epithelium is distinguished in cross-section by the rectangular shape of the cells and the basal Location OF THE nucleus. The tubules are surrounded by loose Fibrous Connective Tissue (3).
