Subclass Ranunculidae
Predominantly herbaceous plants, most commonly with apocarpous or partially cyclic flowers featuring numerous stamens and pistils (or several pistils with free or fused carpels); seeds with or without endosperm. Secretory Cells in parenchymal Tissues are generally absent, and Stomata typically lack subsidiary cells. Pollen grains are never monosulcate.
In many of its features, the subclass Ranunculidae is close to the subclass Magnoliidae, yet it is more evolutionarily advanced. It encompasses four orders, 12 families, and over 3,000 species. In Ukraine, it is represented by three orders, five families, 38 genera, and approximately 180 species.
