Thyroid disorders are among the most common Pathologies of the Endocrine System. Their Diagnosis and Treatment rely on the specific PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL features of THYROID Hormones. A major aid in studying these characteristics is the availability of iodine radioisotopes. Due to its ability to accumulate in The Thyroid Gland, radioactive iodine is widely used in diagnosing and treating its diseases. However, The Use of this isotope carries certain risks, as its excess (along with radioactive fallout) is considered a primary risk factor for thyroid Cancer. This is especially true for children and adolescents, whose thyroid Cells are actively dividing.
