The MAIN OBJECTIVES OF biochemistry are:

1. To study the Chemical composition of Living Organisms, as well as the Structure and properties of molecules.

2. To study METABOLISM.

3. To investigate the effects of various physical loads on the body.

Overall, the branch of biochemistry dedicated to the third objective is referred to as "functional or specialized biochemistry."

A specialized branch of functional biochemistry that investigates the effects of Physical Exercise on an athlete's body is known as "Sports Biochemistry."

Significance of biochemistry:

✵ provides insight into the Chemical Structure of the body and the chemical processes underlying vital activity;

✵ describes the metabolic features during physical exertion and rest; these patterns are essential for the rational Structuring of the training process and for establishing optimal recovery periods;

✵ utilizing basic biochemical analyses, one can assess the compliance of physical loads with the functional state of athletes' bodies and identify signs of overtraining;

✵ an understanding of the patterns of biochemical processes occurring during muscular work and recovery forms the basis for developing new Methods and tools to enhance athletic performance, improve speed-strength qualities and endurance, and accelerate post-training recovery.
