Vitamin B15
Vitamin B15 (pangamic acid) was first discovered in 1950 in bovine Liver extracts and later isolated from many plant seeds, which explains its name (from the Greek pan meaning "everywhere" and gami meaning "seed"). Neither avitaminosis nor hypervitaminosis B15 has been described in humans, although its preparations are used in medicine for certain conditions associated with Metabolic Disorders (specifically, Transmethylation reactions). Pangamic acid preparations provide a favorable therapeutic effect in Fatty liver degeneration and certain forms of oxygen deprivation.
From a chemical perspective, pangamic acid is an ester of gluconic acid and dimethylglycine.
