Clinical characteristics of syndromes associated with acute gastrointestinal bleeding
Patient examination protocol

1. Clinical examination: Complaints, medical history, physical examination of the patient (Skin color, assessment of pulse, BP, RR). Rectal examination to detect traces of melena in the rectal ampulla.

2. Laboratory testing (red Blood Cells, Hemoglobin, color index, hematocrit, white blood cells, differential WBC count, ESR, urinalysis).

3. Diagnosis of hypovolemia and estimation of blood loss volume.

4. Fibrogastroduodenoscopy.

5. ECG

6. Consultation with related specialists to assess the presence and severity of comorbidities.

7. Biochemical Laboratory tests (platelets, urea, creatinine, Liver function tests, transaminases, serum bilirubin, total protein, fibrinogen, prothrombin index, Lee-White clotting time, blood glucose, serum electrolytes).

8. Predicting the recurrence of gastrointestinal bleeding.
