Introduction
The previous chapters describe the somatic and visceral input and output signals of the brain. Among other topics, they examine specific input and output signals, states of arousal, wakefulness and Sleep, and The Role of the interplay between the Limbic System and the Hypothalamus in maintaining Homeostasis and regulating instinctive and emotional behavior. It remains to describe phenomena that, for lack of a more precise term, are designated as higher nervous Functions or Higher Nervous Activity.
