Postpartum endometritis
The Uterus is enlarged, its wall is thickened, the Muscle fibers are hypertrophied, and the inner surface of the uterine cavity has a brownish-black color due to the inflammatory process. The inflammation may spread beyond the endometrium, leading to concurrent metritis and perimetritis. In such cases, the uterus becomes a septic focus of a disseminated generalized infectious process. Consequences include dysplastic Changes in the endometrium, Sepsis, and Infertility.
