Fibrocavernous tuberculosis
The wall of the cavity is formed by dense fibrous tissue showing signs of productive, granulomatous inflammation typical of tuberculosis (caseous necrosis, lymphocytic infiltration, epithelioid Cells, Langhans giant cells). Caseous (cheesy) necrotic masses are visible in the center of the cavity (cavern). Consequences: development of chronic pulmonary insufficiency due to pneumosclerosis and Heart Failure; development of amyloidosis.
